Campus & Accommodations — The Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale

The Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar takes place on the historic and inspiring campus of the Enfield Shaker Museum in Enfield, New Hampshire. Nestled in a serene valley with views of Mascoma Lake, this beautifully preserved Shaker village provides the ideal setting for focused study, creative exploration, and meaningful collaboration among participants.

Accommodations

Chosen Vale participants are housed on-site in the charming accommodations provided by the Enfield Shaker Museum. Each room has a private bathroom and shower, fostering both personal comfort and privacy. All accommodations are within walking distance of rehearsal and performance spaces, creating a seamless and immersive experience for attendees.

Dress

Dress code is casual at all seminar events except when performing in concerts and masterclasses—performance attire is left to the discretion of each individual performer. Temperatures range from 50 - 90º F.

Getting to Chosen Vale

The Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is the nearest airport for those flying to Chosen Vale. We recommend for participants to use the Dartmouth Coach from/to the airport for easy and convenient travel to the Upper Valley. A free pickup and dropoff between Lebanon, NH and the campus will be arranged by Chosen Vale.

The Stone Mill (1849)

This iconic stone structure, originally built in 1849, has been restored to serve as a dynamic rehearsal and performance space. With its high ceilings, natural acoustics, and rustic charm, the Stone Mill is perfect for both intimate ensemble work and large trumpet ensemble sessions. Its historic ambiance inspires musicians to connect with their artistry in profound and unexpected ways.

Mary Keane Chapel (1932)

The Mary Keane Chapel stands as the heart of the Enfield Shaker Museum campus. Known for its breathtaking acoustics and elegant architecture, the chapel serves as a principal performance venue for solo and chamber performances during the seminar. Its sacred and peaceful environment provides a deeply immersive experience for musicians and audiences alike.

West Brethren's Shop (1820)

Originally a workspace for the Shaker community, the West Brethren's Shop has been repurposed into a flexible rehearsal and teaching space. Its intimate setting allows for small group coaching, masterclasses, and personal practice. Participants appreciate the building's historical character and its conducive environment for focused learning.

Chosen Vale Performance Center (2024)

The Chosen Vale Performance Center was recently renovated to inspire and support exceptional musical artistry. The centerpiece of the performance center is its acoustically refined concert hall, designed specifically for intimate and impactful performances. With carefully curated design elements, the space allows artists and audiences alike to experience music at its fullest expression.
